It enables engineers and technicians to get more work done faster, assisting them in deploying ever-evolving Wi-Fi and Ethernet access networks, as well as conducting maintenance and documentation. Leveraging the EtherScope nXG's simple operation, in-depth visibility, and remote access and control capabilities, engineers can now collaborate closely with on-site technicians to accelerate problem-solving.
It utilizes advanced intelligent apps and dedicated testing hardware to conduct testing, verification, and troubleshooting for technology upgrades, NBASE-T, 10G networks, and Wi-Fi networks.
It verifies the Ethernet link performance of critical servers, uplinks, and key end devices (up to 10G), as well as the performance of Wi-Fi networks.
The optional NXT Portable Spectrum Analysis Card supports full-spectrum analysis for 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
It helps technicians who do not have access to network management systems or other advanced tools to evaluate and document complex network deployments consisting of multiple VLANs and Wi-Fi SSIDs.
It facilitates collaboration between remote engineers and on-site technicians for troubleshooting, enabling the resolution of tricky issues at remote sites, thereby saving time and travel costs.
Through the free Link-Live cloud service, it seamlessly integrates, analyzes, and manages on-site test data, and integrates with network management systems.
The Link-Live cloud service is used to automatically discover and instantly map your wired and Wi-Fi networks, speeding up troubleshooting and keeping network documentation up-to-date. Data can be exported to Visio.
Key Features
All-in-One Device with Multi-Technology Support
The EtherScope nXG is equipped with two sets of local Wi-Fi network interfaces: a 2x2 adapter for scanning and testing Wi-Fi networks, and a 1x1 adapter for remote control connections and testing. Both interfaces support 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, and can display usage analysis, as well as information about Wi-Fi channels, SSIDs, BSSIDs, wireless APs, and client devices. The EtherScope nXG fully supports the 6GHz band.
The EtherScope nXG is furnished with two Ethernet ports. The primary testing RJ-45 port supports multi-gigabit networks ranging from 10/100Mbps to 1/2.5/5/10Gbps, allowing verification of link speed, SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio), as well as status indicators labeled "Duplex" and "Connected". It can request and verify PoE power with a PSE load of up to 90W, and can also connect to fiber optic networks via single/multi-mode SFP+ to test 1/10Gbps fiber-based Ethernet. The second RJ-45 management port can connect to 10/100Mbps or even 1Gbps Ethernet for remote control, and can be used for network scanning and testing when needed. This port is also used for cable testing.
The EtherScope nXG has a built-in Bluetooth v5/BLE radio, which can be used for connection and BT/BLE site surveys. The USB interface supports connections to accessories and other devices.
*The allocation of 6GHz spectrum varies by country. For details, please refer to the ordering materials. Spectrum analysis requires the optional NXT-1000 Portable Spectrum Analysis Card dedicated to 2.4/5GHz bands.
Simplify Tasks and Assist Technicians in Verifying Complex Networks with Next-Generation AutoTest Technology
The EtherScope nXG comes with ready-to-use AutoTest profiles that provide best-practice pass/fail thresholds, enabling quick evaluation of the network configuration and services of Wi-Fi and wired networks.
For Ethernet networks: It tests switch port PoE characteristics, VLAN-tagged traffic detection, 802.1x authentication, advertised and negotiated link speeds, DHCP/DNS/gateway availability, and accessibility.
For over-the-air signal quality: It evaluates the number of wireless APs, co-channel and adjacent-channel interference, and channel utilization.
For Wi-Fi networks: It supports various authentication and security protocols (including WPA3) for connecting to SSIDs/BSSIDs, and conducts evaluations based on signal coverage/noise, DHCP/DNS/gateway availability, and accessibility.
Multiple profiles can be created for complex networks. Each switch port supports multiple VLANs, and Wi-Fi networks with multiple SSIDs are supported, where each SSID has its own set of IP targets. These profiles can then be organized into profile groups, and tests can be executed sequentially for each profile. This enables one-time verification and documentation of multiple VLANs and SSIDs. Since predefined profiles can be executed individually, profile groups serve as an auxiliary resource for technicians to verify each specific VLAN or SSID during troubleshooting. With profile groups, engineers can transfer their network configuration and testing knowledge to technicians, thus saving training time and effort.
24-Hour Monitoring for Intermittent Issues
Scheduled AutoTest
In this mode, AutoTest runs at specified intervals (ranging from 1 minute to 60 minutes) for a duration of 10 minutes to 24 hours, and sends results to Link-Live for viewing trends over time. This allows users to efficiently monitor all aspects of the network for extended periods or assist in diagnosing intermittent issues—eliminating the need for manual repeated testing. Results are automatically timestamped, and users can add comments to facilitate grouping or management. With filtering and sorting functions, test results can be quickly analyzed in Link-Live. Email alerts are sent when errors are detected.
Multi-Gigabit Link Verification
As multi-gigabit switch deployments expand (typically used to provide greater bandwidth for Wi-Fi 6 wireless APs), users may find that their cabling cannot support the required speeds. Cable quality, length, installation craftsmanship, and environmental noise can all cause speed "downgrades" to below expected levels.
Cabling SNR Measurement
The EtherScope nXG can now verify whether copper media supports multi-gigabit speeds (2.5/5/10Gig) and diagnose the root cause when link speed degradation occurs.
AirMapper Site Survey App – Now with Wi-Fi Support
With the AirMapper app, EtherScope nXG users can now quickly and easily collect location-based Wi-Fi and Bluetooth/BLE measurement data, and create visual heatmaps of key performance indicators in the Link-Live cloud service. The AirMapper app is user-friendly, making it ideal for rapid site surveys of new deployments, change verification, and performance validation.
Thanks to the survey project management feature in Link-Live, the productivity and collaboration capabilities of distributed teams conducting surveys at remote sites have been significantly enhanced. Team leaders can now create a project in Link-Live, upload and calibrate floor plans, and automatically push the configured project to the required handheld devices.
